When we create membership site we have question in our mind whether it is paid membership site or free membership site?. If we are plan to create Paid membership site then we should integrated the membership software like aMember with one payment gateway for the successful payment processing.
In the Membership site setup series post part 1 covers the pre requirements and wordpress installation with aMember and the second part covers the aMember installation and configuration with content protection. Now the third part will explain about the payment system integration.
If we are using wishlist member plugin for the membership content protection then the payment system integration like ClickBank and wishlist integration, PayPal and wishlist member integration has explained already for the successful processing of the members subscription.
Now we are using aMember to create membership site, this article will discuss about Integration of payment system like ClickBank, PayPal with aMember. Before going into detailed steps we need to know what are the payment system can be used in aMember for membership site setup. Then we can pick the right one based on our goal and requirements.
aMember gives number of payment system options for the payment processing of the membership sites. It has 1shopping cart, Cashu, ClickBank, Dibs, Offline, Payanyway, PayPal, PayPal express, PayPal pro, Plimus, swreg, Twocheckout, Worldpay, Zombaio, Authorize-cim,cc-demo and Firstdata payment systems for integration.
This article will described about ClickBank and PayPal payment system setup we can use the same procedure for other systems also. In the previous parts of the series post we have done the aMember installation and content protection.
Now we will setup payment system for membership site, first we need to define the goal for making payment what will be the initial amount for the subscription, Is there any trail period available for subscription and the subscription interval with payment.
If you are creating a membership website in which members pay a one-time price for either lifetime access or for timed access (e.g., 4 months) and you do not intend to set them up with auto recurring payments.
On the other hand, our membership site requires automated recurring payments we must check those details also.Once we know these details we are ready to integrate the payment system with aMember.
For this we need aMember installed wordpress website and a ClickBank vendor account if you don’t have ClickBank account you can sign up here as a vendor. We have aMember installed site. Now login to the aMember admin panel using the URL. http://yoursite.com/aMember/admin.
Now you will be inside the admin panel of aMember in the left hand menu we have the tab called setup and configuration under the configuration tab just click on the tab.
In the setup and configuration page we have the top navigation with Global, Plugins, and Email and etc links. For payment system integration we should go to plugins link. Before that we need to setup global settings explained in part 2 of the membership site setup series.
You will see the options just like the below screen shot.
We have 4 sections in the plugins page Modules, Payment Plugins, integration Pligins and other plugins. Each section have the the drop box with list of plugins available in each section.
Go to the second section Payment plugins and select ClickBank in the dropdown menu suddenly we have ClickBank with close mark under the dropdown select option in the plugins page. Now save the settings. It will take few seconds to configure ClickBank plugin with aMember. Once it finished we will have new link in the navigation menu of the plugins page.
The link name is called ClickBank. Just click on the link we should have the settings for the ClickBank integration with aMember in aMember admin side. We should have the settings option like the below screen shot.
These click bank integration needs settings like ClickBank account id, ClickBank secret key, ClickBank Clerk API key, Developer API key and the options for direct payments.
In the payment system Title we should use the purpose of the payment system integration in short. The detailed purpose should be specified in the description section. To fill other details on this page we should login our ClickBank vendors account.
ClickBank Account Id – It is the ClickBank user name or nickname for the vendor account. Provide the id in aMember admin.
Secret Key – To get the ClickBank secret key we nned to login vendor account and Click on ‘account settings’ in the navigation and navigate ‘My site’ tab in the navigation. Here we have ‘advanced tools’ in these advanced tools we have the secret key details just copy the key and paste it in the aMember ClickBank integration page.
ClickBank Clerk API and Developer API keys – To find the clerk API and Developer API key go to ‘account settings’ in the navigation and navigate ‘My account’ tab in the navigation. Here we have ‘ClickBank clerk API key section. If you have key just copy and paste it into the ClickBank settings in the aMember.
For developer API key we can copy from there itseif. If we don’t have the key here we need to create new API key for developer by click on the edit option. Once we found the necessary keys in the ClickBank just fill the details in aMember plugin page.
Finally if we want we can enable the direct payment also this direct payment makes the customer to pay via payment processor without having aMember signup initially.
We already discussed about how o create new product in aMember in part 2 of this series post. Login to the aMember admin. In the left hand menu click on products Tabàmanage products.
Here we can create new product with billing information, title, description and other details. According to our membership site requirements we will setup the initial price for the subscription, recurring billing amount, Rebill period here we have number of options to setup our billing plan for the subscription.
Asper our second part if we created a new product already we can edit the billing plan by goings ProductsàManage productsàedit. Once we have updated the information successfully Now we are ready to setup thank you page and IN in ClickBank account.
To Configure Thank You Page URL in our ClickBank account to this URL: http://yoursite.com/aMember/payment/ClickBank/thanks
For this go to ClickBank account, just follow the setps. Account settingsà My productsà recurring billing productsà add new productà here we can fill the necessary information about the product and give the Thank you page URL as we mentioned above.
To setup (IPN) Instant Notification URL in our ClickBank account then navigate the following path to add Instant notification URL. Account Settings -> My Site -> Advanced Tools -> Edit and add this URL
: http://yoursite.com.com/aMember/payment/ClickBank/ipn your site name replaced with the domain name of the membership site.
That’s all we have integrated ClickBank with aMember for the membership site payment processing successfully.
Before we jump into the PayPal setup, there are a few things about integrating with PayPal we need to understand to make sure it’s the setup we want to use. PayPal has several methods for payment processing. Its applicability depends on the goals and requirements of the membership site setup.
Life time payment membership sites
PayPal allows guest payments, which means that if we can billing our members only once and we don’t have the intention to auto renew their subscriptions also our members can be able to choose how they want to pay for our membership subscription either with their PayPal account, or as a guest with their credit card. They will not be required to create a PayPal account.
Recurring payment membership for membership sites
Websites that require recurring payments for membership (e.g., on a monthly basis) can be used for many of the membership site settings. We have four options to make recurring payment with PayPal.
Recurring billing with Website Payments Standard
This is by far the easiest of the setups to the customers. aMember is handling the recurring billing so we can easily use the website payments Standard for recurring billing. That means that we don’t have the $30 monthly fee associated with a Website Payments Pro account. We can use PayPal website standard for aMember.
Recurring billing with Website Payments Pro
If wewant to be able to accept guest payments for our recurring program with PayPal and not require our customer to create a PayPal account, we need to sign up for Website Payments Pro. This will cost $30 per month, which is pretty inexpensive. It will give the customer may use any options as per their wish like using PayPal or simply with a credit card.
AMember offers different plugins for multiple payment options available in the PayPal systems. We can use PayPal pro plugin in the abone possible listed payment plugin with aMember.
Recurring billing with Payflow Payment Gateway and third party
We can also use Payflow payment gateway or third party integration for the recurring payment with PayPal and aMember. The integration has simple steps for PayPal and aMember in the membership site setup.
Login our aMember admin and go to setup and configuration under configuration tab in the left hand menu. Click on the plugin link in the setup and configuration page.
Go to the second section Payment plugins and select PapPal in the dropdown menu suddenly we have PayPal with close mark under the dropdown select option in the plugins page. Now save the settings. It will take few seconds to configure PayPal plugin with aMember. Once it finished we will have new link in the navigation menu of the plugins page.
The link name is called PayPal. Just click on the link we should have the settings for the PayPal integration with aMember in aMember admin side. We should have the settings option like the below screen shot. And fill the necessary details like Pyapal email id and sandbox details if necessary.
Now add the Instant notification in PayPal account for the complete integration with PayPal.
If you should already have a PayPal account ready to go. However, if you don’t, you can create one for free at PayPal.com. Click here to create new PayPal account.
Setup our Product uses Recurring Billing
Now we need to make sure aMember knows that our product should be a recurring product that uses PayPal for payment. To do this, go to aMember admin page and click Manage Products on the left hand navigation menu, and then click on “edit” next to the product you wish to make recurring and fill the billing plan information and other description and details about the product here.
Once you’ve done that, next leave the rest of the settings at their default configurations, so head toward the bottom of the page and click Save.
By the same way we can integrate any payment system available in the payment plugins list in aMember. Just select the plugin and save the settings it took few second to configure the plugin with aMember. Once the configuration has finished we have the setup page link in the navigation for the plugin configured with aMember.
In the Membership site setup third part of the series post deals about the payment system integration. AMember membership software allows easy way to integrate various payment systems based on our requirements with simple plugin configuration within aMember admin panel.
